Goal 3: Ensure that all people enjoy healthy and well-being for all ages

Ensuring healthy living and promoting the well-being of all people of all ages is an essential element of sustainable development. Extensive steps have been taken towards increasing life expectancy and reducing the incidence of some general fatal diseases associated with child and maternal mortality. Substantial progress has been made in increasing access to clean water and sanitation, reducing malaria, tuberculosis and poliomyelitis and reducing the spread of HIV / AIDS. However, much more needs to be done to fully eliminate a wide range of diseases and to address many of the many persistent and emerging health issues.
